Stone Hill Veterinary Clinic

Stone Hill Veterinary Clinic in Big Rapids was established in 1995 by Wendell S.Weber, DVM.  The clinic was built to accommodate both large and small animal patients.  Dr. Weber initially did farm calls for both cattle and horses, at the same time developing a thriving small animal practice.  Three years later, Dr. Weber built a large barn behind the clinic, using trees which he cut from his farm and sawed on his mill.  The new facility enabled more large animal patients, especially horses to be transported to the practice, thus expanding equine reproduction and surgery capabilities.

 

In 2000, Ann E. Smith, DVM joined the practice, focusing on small animal preventive care.  The clinic was further expanded in 2008, when Dr. Weber added onto and remodeled the building.

Wendell S. Weber, DVM

Dr. Wendell S. Weber graduated from Michigan State University - College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978.  After working in two mixed-animal practices, he and his wife, Chris, opened their own practice in 1995.  Dr. Weber enjoys both small and large animal practice, but has special interest in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, as well as equine reproduction.

 

He lives on his farm with his wife and son Scott.  They have 24 head of horses which include Draft horses, light horses, a miniature horse, and a pony.  They also have four dogs, two indoor cats, and four barn cats.  He is a member of the Draft Horse Association and served as past Vice President and also served a full term on the Board of Directors.  He is the Veterinarian on call for the Great Lakes Draft Horse Sale in East Lansing.  Dr. Weber also enjoys raising, showing, and selling his Belgian Draft Horses.

Ann E. Smith, DVM

Dr. Ann E. Smith graduated from Michigan State University - College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.  After working two years at a small animal practice in Kalamazoo, she joined the Stone Hill practice in 2000.  Dr. Smith focuses on small animal preventive care.  She is a member of the MVMA and AVMA.  She recently raised and trained a puppy to become a future service dog for PAWS With a Cause. 

 

In her spare time she enjoys reading, watching the many sporting events that her children are in, and spending time with her family.  She lives in the Lake Isabella area with her husband, Rick and their three children.  They have two cats and dog at home.

Brandi Mitchell, LVT

Brandi joined the practice in March of 2009.  After obtaining her Veterinary Technician degree from Baker College in 2006, she worked in a cat-exclusive clinic, and worked for the Humane Animal Treatment Society of Mt. Pleasant.  She has also worked as a lab coordinator in the Veterinary Technician Program at Baker College.  She is also very active in various animal related organizations such as SNAP (Spay and Neuter Animal Project), AVTE (Association of Veterinary Technician Educators), AAVET (American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians).

 
Brandi is an outdoorswoman and enjoys four wheeling and hunting.  She and husband, Jordan, have an assortment of indoor and outdoor cats as well as a cockatiel, a parakeet, and a Californian rabbit.

Graduated from Baker College in 2006 with Veterinary Technician Degree.

Cat lover, and helps support local trap, neuter, release programs.

Brandy Weidenfeller, BS, LVT

Brandy joined SHVC in 2012.  Brandy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Michigan State University.  Caring for animals in their time of need is one of Brandy's lifelong passions.  After growing up in the Grand Rapids area, Brandy currently resides in Ionia where she has lived since 2014.  Her work history through the years is exclusively related to working with animals, ranging from equines to felines.  She has gained vast experience working at multiple veterinary clinics.

 
When she's not caring for your pet, Brandy enjoys riding horses, playing the viola, gardening, and crafts.  She raises chickens, ducks, quail, and swans and has cats and a horse at home.  She supports the Kent Special Riding Program and has a special interest in Veterinary Dentistry and would like to become specialized in that area.

Samantha Mumah - Vet Assist/Receptionist

Samantha joined SHVC in April of 2013.  Sam became a certified Veterinary Assistant in 2011 and before joining the practice, she worked at an Equine Reproduction farm and has experience working at a dairy barn.  In June 2016, Sam graduated from Baker College with an Associates of Science in Agriculture Technology Degree.


In her spare time, Samantha enjoys training horses, barrel racing, and hunting and fishing.  She participates in the NBHA (National Barrel Horse Association) and her dream is to one day become a Clinton Anderson Certified Clinician.  She currently owns three horses, one dog, and four cats.

Katie Omness - Vet Assist/Receptionist

Katie joined SHVC in February of 2016.  She is our main receptionist at the clinic and is surely to greet you with a smiling face.  Katie has a background in customer service and always has a cheerful personality.  This is her first job in the animal field and she loves it.  She is great with pets, but also great at huge assett in helping our clients.

 

In her spare time, Katie likes to be outdoors, snowmobiling, riding four-wheelers, and working on her new house.
